Acquiring high quality data is only half job done! Value from a well performed site-survey, whether this is a marine streamer survey or a land seismic survey depend on excellence in treating and conditioning the acquired data through a equally high quality data processing flow. This, after all, is output value from a given survey project. Hence, attention to the tools (quality of the software) and the data flow (step-wise actions) through to final deliverables is key to achieving high quality survey results.

Processing of reflection seismic data

Unless you team is very familiar with marine reflection data, Argeo provide full seismic processing to ensure that end result is of the highest possible standard. Typical dataflow for site-survey reflection data processing:

  • QC and nav merge
  • Geometry (all or selected channels)
  • Velocity profiles (2D or 3D)
  • Amplitude correction
  • Normal Move Out (NMO)
  • Filtering
  • Migration (time & depth depending on project funding)
  • SEGY export

Examples of results through a typical reflection seismic processing flow

Raw Pre-stack all shots all channels for one 2D seismic UHR line

Processed NMO corrected all shots all channels for 1 UHR seismic 2D line

Processed Pre-stack amplitude corrected all shots all channels for 1 UHR seismic 2D line

Processed amplitude and NMO corrected UHR 2D profile (one seismic line)

Finally we arrive at the first client deliverables, time migrated seismic 2D profile which can be exported in SEGY and used for project analysis or further geological modelling

 Geological interpretation and modelling

Making use of seismic data (any seismic data) involves both an geological interpretative and a modelling workflow. Usually Argeo provide both. Interpretation is the first step where geophysicists and geologist investigate seismic parameters and develop an area understanding by interpretation the seismic project – line-by-line. A fitted geological model is then created from which interpreted surface can be digitally exported as a client deliverables to be imported into a project management system, typically a geotechnical system.

We can further expand and calibrate/optimize our model using physical geotechnical tests such as CPT and totalsonding, coring etc.
